Job Description

Our remote DoD SkillBridge internships provide real-world job experience, training, and skills development.

A member participating in the healthcare track  is responsible for providing comprehensive case management services to clients in need of mental health services. This position will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure that clients receive the appropriate care and resources to improve their mental health and overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of clients’ mental health needs
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for clients, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients
  • Conduct crisis interventions and risk assessments as necessary
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation as required
  • Coordinate with community resources and agencies to provide clients with access to additional services, including housing, medical care, and social services
  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss client progress, share information, and provide feedback
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other organizational activities
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, as well as all applicable laws, regulations, and policies

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health or related field
  • Strong crisis management, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and treatment modalities for mental health disorders
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with co-occurring disorders and/or trauma histories
  • Skilled in building relationships with clients and families, schools, and communities
  • Experience working with at-risk youth is a plus

Program Location

Most opportunities are remote/WFH and may also involve on-site work with your employer host in a location aligned with your needs.

Program Duration

12-24 weeks 

Eligibility

Open to all qualified transitioning active-duty U.S. service members, both officer and enlisted, of any rank and branch. 

Must have 180 days of active duty service remaining before the date of separation and have obtained approval or be in the approval process from the unit/command. 

Note: As published in Department of Defense Instruction 1322.29 and as outlined in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fact Sheet #71 of January 2018, Servicemembers participating in a SkillBridge program are participating in a capstone training experience at the end of the military career and are NOT eligible for wages or other benefits from industry partners since the program is supported by the Department of Defense which will continue to cover the salaries and benefits of the participating members.
